Reminiscences of Childhood

Drawing on Adrian’s own childhood in Swansea, his interpretation of Thomas’ poetry and prose has won international recognition and awards and has played to great acclaim in America. In this hour-long, solo performance, Metcalfe uses a wide range of works by the author including The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog, Quite Early One Morning, The Collected Poems and Return Journey, seamlessly entwined with Metcalfe’s own prose, and succeeds in creating a delightful, haunting exploration of the work of the great Dylan Thomas. With music played by the concert pianist, Robert Marshall and sung by Bronwen Beckett.
